JuMP Company, or Junior Musical Playhouse Company, is musical theatre for students in first grade through twelfth grade. Founded in 1984 by Martha Mead, the company was established to involve youth in the performing arts and to promote higher education. JuMP Company is a non-profit corporation led by a Board of Directors composed entirely of volunteers. During productions, parents are asked to become stagehands, costumers, set builders and prop designers, as well as, chaperones, and ushers. Jump productions would not be made possible without the community and parents. JuMP Company promotes respect for others in a drug-free environment. We welcome any child who is interested in performing on stage or working backstage, either as a career or just for fun. JuMP Company presents two musical theatre productions per year under the direction of local professionals. Our winter show is open to members of all ages. Our summer show is usually focused on members 12 years old and above. When we are not rehearsing for an upcoming production, we hold Saturday morning workshops. We invite guests to teach us about make-up, sets, stage techniques and music. We discuss preparation for auditions, play games, sing and just have fun. JuMP Company scholarships are funded by profit from our productions. Since 1984, Jump has given over $60,000 in scholarships and donations to the community.
