Double Master Class with Chris Carwithen

Event Details

Chris is an actor, singer, musician, and songwriter who has been performing professionally in the Sun Valley area since 2012. Originally from Oregon, Chris has spent his life honing his skills onstage, graduating with a performing arts degree from Southern Oregon University, and singing, dancing, and acting with a large number of illustrious institutions across the pacific northwest including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Oregon Cabaret Theatre, Seattle’s 5th Avenue touring company, Company of Fools, and served for years as an artist, co-founder, and Director of Marketing & Community Engagement for The Liberty Theatre Company. Recent favorite acting roles include Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, Ogie in Waitress, and Jamie in The Last 5 Years.

When not playing in the world of theatre, Chris can be found performing alongside his astonishing partner, Tess, in their musical duo: The Arkentones (Arkentones.com), reading for audio books / recording music in his basement, or simply talking your ear off about The Lord of The Rings. From musician to actor to dancer to singer, Chris plays many parts, but more than any part he plays, he covets most his role as father to his suspiciously cool children, Lachlan & Bronwyn.

For Ages 12-19

Class 1: 10am-12pm
“The Moment Before: Setting Your Scene”
A scene does not begin with the first line of dialogue. Learn how to create the moment before and enter a scene with genuine momentum by understanding where you’ve been, what just happened, and what you need now.

Class 2: 1pm-3pm
“Make a Choice: Objectives, Obstacles, and Tactics.”
A compelling performance rarely comes from trying to feel something; it comes from trying to accomplish something. Learn how to make strong, playable acting choices by identifying what you want, what stands in your way, and what you do to get it.
