Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hip Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto your stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime. Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. follows all of your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.
Alex the lion is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction at New York’s Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends — Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo — have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them. Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape — with the help of some prodigious penguins — to explore the world.
Filled with outlandish characters, adventure galore and an upbeat score, Madagascar JR. will leave audiences with no choice but to “Move It, Move It!”

To audition for a show or to be a part of a production, you will first complete an audition application after which you will be prompted to sign up for an audition time. You must first complete an application before signing up for an audition time.
Parents whose child has been cast in a show, must attend a mandatory parent meeting. Parent volunteer responsibilities, actor expectations, JuMP Co. policies and more will be discussed.

If you are unavailable for an in-person audition, we will accept video auditions. Review each show’s audition page for specific instruction on what to include in your video. You can submit your video by adding the link from YouTube, google drive, Dropbox, etc. to your audition form.
Video auditions are allowed. Please submit 1 video with your song(s), reading and choreography. Make sure your video is set to public on Google Drive, YouTube or other file sharing service. If it is not set to public, we will not reach out to have you fix it.
Rehearsals will start on January 4th and run Monday-Thursday from 6-8:30pm.
There will not be a cast read through this night. Kids can pick up scripts after the parent meeting.
The director has chosen warm reads for you to prepare. For any characters not specifically named below you will read the Gloria Pages 20–22 or Marty Pages 12–13 excerpts.

Please prepare 90 seconds of a song in the style of the show. In addition, if you’re auditioning for any of the following characters please prepare the listed solo below. Please use linked “track NO vocals” backing track for this part of your audition.
Alex: Please also prepare measures 64-85 of Alex’s solo from the song “Steak.” (From when Alex says “I want some beef and I want it now…I don’t want pie…and I don’t want cake…“ to the end of the song.)
Marty: Please also prepare measures 16-27 of Marty’s solo from the song “Wild and Free.” (From Marty saying “Running wild! Wow! Where I could be… wild and free! Wild and free, imagine that!“ and ending on m. 27 before the ensemble chants “Come on! You could graze all day…” etc.)
Melman: Please also prepare measures 29 to 35 of Melman’s linked solo from the song “It’s Showtime.”

Choreography auditions will be held about every 20 minutes. Plan on joining a small group either before or after your other audition to do your choreography.
